Appointment Length

  • Consultations with the doctors and practice nurses are by appointment only.
  • Standard appointment length is 10 minutes.
  • Please discuss one problem per appointment and book a double appointment for multiple problems.
  • Patients may choose which doctor or nurse they wish to consult.
  • It may be better to stick with the same doctor for an episode of illness.

Waiting Times

Waiting times for a routine appointment vary with change in demand and with staffing levels e.g. holidays, sickness. We reguarly monitor waiting times for routine appointments and the results are displayed publically in the waiting room. Please note that to see a named doctor you may need to wait longer than if you had no preference in which doctor you saw. This is because the doctors have different numbers of appointments.

If you have a problem which requires attention before the next routine appointment with a doctor then you will be invited to book into the morning assessment clinic. Here you will be see by a doctor or nurse to discuss the urgent problem. You may be asked to rebook a routine appointment for follow up once your problem has been assessed. Please note that we are unable to dicuss routine problems during these times.

In the event of a medical emergency which will not wait until the next assessment clinic then we will see you at the end of afternoon surgery. We will provide immediately necessary treatment and arrange follow up or admission to hospital if required. We ask any non-urgent problems are not discussed during these times.
