What to do if the surgery is closed
If you require emergency treatment out of hours then telephone the surgery and your call will be automatically redirected to the out of hours service. Most patients who need to see a doctor outside normal surgery hours will be asked to attend the GP emergency treatment centre at Pendle Community Hospital in Nelson. Please restrict your requests to those problems which cannot wait until normal surgery hours.
As from October 1st 2004 the local primary care organisation took over responsibility for providing out of hours medical services. The new system uses treatment centres based both in Nelson and in Burnley.
Please note that the doctors at Earby do not oversee the system which is run outside normal surgery hours. They are therefore unable to reply to comments, suggestions or complaints about the out-of-hours service. Instead we ask that these issues are directed to the Primary Care Trust.
